The TechnoSperm group is looking for candidates to apply to the Juan de la Cierva 2026 call, hosted by the University of Girona. If you have recently completed your PhD and want to work in reproductive biotechnology, we would like to hear from you.
How it works
The Juan de la Cierva is a postdoctoral fellowship from the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. The application is submitted by the host institution, not by the candidate: you fill in your participant form and, a few days later, the University of Girona submits the application. That is why you need a group behind you before the call opens. This form lets us get to know the profiles who are interested and decide who we prepare the application with. Once the deadline closes we will get back to everyone who applied.
Who we are looking for
Recent PhD holders whose work fits one of our lines: sperm physiology and preservation, chromatin integrity and architecture, fertility biomarkers, reproductive ageing or embryo development. You do not need to have worked in exactly our field. We look at technical experience, scientific output and, above all, whether there is a genuine fit with what we do.
Fellowship conditions
Contract length
3 years
Employment contract with the University of Girona.
Salary
€30,600 gross a year
This is the minimum the appointed researcher must be paid. The Ministry contributes €35,000 a year to the host institution towards the salary and the employer's social security costs.
Additional research funding
€15,000
To cover costs directly related to the research activity.
PhD award date
2025 – 2026
Usually the two calendar years before the deadline. Extended by one year for applicants with a disability of 33 % or more.
